Summer studentship

The purpose of the ENRRICH Studentship is to recognize and prioritize the valuable skills and knowledge that comes from life experience. The ENRRICH studentship was developed to support inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and justice, and to enhance participation of groups who have been historically and systematically marginalized and excluded from broader participation at the University of Manitoba. Up to six (6) studentships will be available this competition. Selections will be made by a lottery system with two rounds: The first round is designated for individuals who are members of Black, Indigenous, and/or racially marginalized groups. (This includes Black, Indigenous, and racially marginalized persons with disabilities; and Black, Indigenous, and racially marginalized persons of sexual and/or gender diverse identities). The second round is designated for all applicants (including those who were not selected in round one).

Applicants must be enrolled in, or recently graduated from a post-secondary institution in Winnipeg. There are no GPA requirements for this studentship. The applicant must submit a cover letter (300 words) and an essay (300 words) outlining their career goals and relevant skills obtained through their life, work, volunteer, or academic experiences, and explain what opportunities this studentship would provide to them that they would otherwise not be able to access. Applicants are asked to state in their cover letter that he/she/they self-identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or racially marginalized persons. The applicant must also meet with their potential supervisor to discuss their goals of their summer research experience.

Applications must be submitted no later than 4:00 p.m. on April 5, 2024.

On February 15, 2024, ENRRICH hosted a virtual open house featuring presentations from potential ENRRICH supervisors and past awardees to provide the opportunity for students to learn more about the studentship.

The recording of the open house is available here. If you are having trouble with accessing the video, please try opening it in a private browser.
