Establishing Digital Storytelling as a Research Approach for Families Navigating Neurodiversity
This project addresses a critical gap in the continuum of care for children with neurodevelopment disorders (NDDs), particularly those with past or present experience navigating prolonged wait times for assessment and treatment. Focusing on the early re-diagnosis and pre-treatment stages which are often overlooked in research, this project co-designed digital storytelling approach, families generate rich qualitative data, offering insights not easily accessed through traditional methods. This participatory method fosters reflection, meaning making, and community, with therapeutic benefits, while producing digital stories that fill an important gap in literature and practice regarding experiences during NDD waitlists.
